The Chairman and Trustees of the Board of the Village of Comstock meet on the first Thursday evening of every month at 8 p.m. in City Hall on Main Street. The meetings are open to the public. Library
Comstock Township Library, located on Main Street, is open Tuesday and Thursday from 1 – 3 p.m. The library has a wide selection of books and videos. For more information, call Pam Roth at 308-750-7457.
Police / Fire / Rescue
Comstock has a volunteer fire department consisting of 17 volunteer firemen. The emergency number for fire and rescue is 911.
Clubs & Organizations
C.A.R.E. – Comstock Ain’t Ready to Expire – is a community oriented group dedicated to the improvement and beautification of Comstock and promoting it as a great place to live and raise a family. C.A.R.E. created the Centennial Flower Garden as its first major project with the help of numerous volunteers. C.A.R.E. also helped with the rehabilitation of homes through monies from grants.
The Comstock Community Club meets once a month on the third Thursday at 8 p.m. The club sponsors Santa Coming To Town and the Easter Hunt in the park and promotes Comstock Alumni activities every 5 years. The next Comstock Alumni reunion is set for 2020.
The American Legion sponsors a local male student to attend Boys State and a local male or female student to attend Junior Law Cadet. The American Legion Auxiliary sponsors a local female student to attend Girls State. Another project is helping the Veteran Home and Hospital in Grand Island.
Worship
The Wescott Baptist Church is located in Comstock north of the Centennial Flower Garden at 101 N Custer Street and offers Sunday School for children and adults from 9:30-10:30 a.m. with worship service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Youth group and Sunday evening services begin at 7 p.m. during Daylight Savings Time and 6 p.m. Standard Time. Wednesday night bible study begins at 7:30 p.m. The Wescott Baptist Ladies Mission Circle meets every second Wednesday of the month. The men gather for a prayer breakfast every second Saturday of the month at 7 a.m. Pastor: Don Schauda.
